Results of Default Ballot for the Z136.7 (CDV2) – Document Approved

Submitted by Jacqueline Ansa on

The default recirculation ballot to approve resolutions made to the Z136.7 Testing and Labeling of Laser Protective Equipment closed Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 5:00 pm Eastern Time; the deadline for comments for the second public review of this same document closed November 18, 2019. There were no comments received from public review.

As you know, if a member of the balloting group does not plan to change his/her vote on a default recirculation ballot, it is not necessary to return the ballot. In this case, the vote will be counted as in the original ballot. This applies to both affirmative and negative votes.

Of the responses received −

All of the original negative votes (three) changed to affirmative votes, and

one balloting group members that did not previously vote cast an affirmative ballot in CDV2. Below is a comparison of the original results and the recirculation results. As a note, the original ballot results I shared earlier this year reported that 83% of the ballots were affirmative, but in that calculation I had not removed the abstentions from the denominator; the percentage of affirmative votes was actually 89%. The correct results are reported below:

Original results

Ballots returned: 29 of 32 = 91%

Abstain: 2

Affirmative: 24 of 27 (returned less abstentions) = 89%

Negative: 3

CDV2 results

Ballots returned: 30 of 32 = 94%

Abstain: 2

Affirmative: 28 of 28 (returned less abstention) = 100%

Negative: 0

A copy of the summary of ballot results will be posted on the ASC Z136 - General Page (scroll down to the Committee Documents section)
